The Jefferson School City Center, formerly known as the historic Jefferson School (which earned its historic designation in 2006), serves as a vital community hub in the heart of Charlottesville. This dynamic center provides a range of services and programs designed to enrich and support the local community.

Anchor tenants include the City of Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Center and the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center. Additionally, the City Center houses several other organizations that contribute to its vibrant community presence, such as the PVCC Culinary Department, Piedmont YMCA Early Learning Center, The Uhuru Foundation, Women’s Initiative, Sentara Health Center, Literacy Volunteers, and The Fountain Fund. Together, these entities ensure that the Jefferson School City Center remains a cornerstone of community life and a resource for diverse needs and interests.
