CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Volunteer tutors with Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle (LVCA) are invited to their monthly Tutor Book Group for an afternoon of connection, discussion, and professional enrichment. This regular gathering provides a unique space for the dedicated volunteers who teach reading, writing, and English to adults in our community to come together, share experiences, and explore topics relevant to their important work.
The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. The group will convene in person at the Jefferson School City Center, located at 233 4th St NW in Charlottesville, a historic landmark and the central hub for LVCA’s operations.
This is more than just a book club; it’s a form of ongoing professional development and peer support. The group, coordinated by LVCA’s Heather, selects compelling fiction and non-fiction titles that often touch upon the core themes of their mission, such as literacy, immigration, education, and the power of human connection across different cultures.
Participants can expect a thoughtful and engaging discussion where they can:
Held consistently on the third Saturday of each month, this book group is a cornerstone of LVCA’s commitment to supporting its volunteers. It’s an ideal forum for both new and experienced tutors to recharge their creative energies, find inspiration, and feel more connected to the broader LVCA community.
Tutors who are interested in joining this enriching conversation are encouraged to contact Heather at heather@literacyforall.org for information on the current book selection and to RSVP. New members are always welcome to join the discussion.
